Which route is best for Delhi to Dehradun travel?

If you are planning a road journey from Delhi to Dehradun, choosing the right route helps ensure a smooth and comfortable trip. The most preferred and reliable route is via NH 334 passing through Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee. This highway route is well maintained, offers good road conditions, and has multiple fuel stations, restaurants, and rest stops, making it suitable for family and group travel.

Another option is the route via Saharanpur, but it is usually less preferred due to relatively narrow roads and occasional traffic congestion. The NH 334 route is ideal for those traveling with elders or kids, as the drive remains steady and less tiring. Travel time generally ranges between 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic.

Route (via NH334 / NH 44 & NH 334)

  1. Leave Delhi and get onto NH44/NH 9 heading toward Ghaziabad/Muzaffarnagar.

  2. Continue toward Meerut (Follow signs to Meerut).

  3. From Meerut, join NH334 toward Bijnor / Muzaffarnagar.

  4. Continue on NH334 passing through Muzaffarnagar.

  5. After Muzaffarnagar, stay on NH334 and follow signs to Roorkee.

  6. From Roorkee, continue north toward Dehradun : you’ll enter Uttarakhand.

  7. Follow the highway straight into Dehradun city.

For group journeys, comfort and coordination matter the most. Choosing Tempo Traveller Hire in Delhi allows travelers to enjoy this route together with planned breaks, professional drivers, and a relaxed road travel experience.

Travel Tips

Total drive usually 5–6 hours, depending on traffic
